A 'Les Paul' script TRC would be good - not sure if there are repros made?

a '61 LP/SG has been extremely high on my list of dream guitars for a very long time. This is gorgeous, and the photos are also.
Crash was referring to the fact that originally it would have (most likely; there's never been absolutes with Gibson) a Truss rod cover with "Les Paul" embossed on it. They had a bunch left over, even after Les himself withdrew approval of the model, but they used up the parts they had.

20200728_152534.jpgI'm not sure what you mean. but I'd be reluctant to add anything to a vintage beauty like this one.
I'm pretty sure all 61s had the wider bevel TRC with the 'Les Paul' script. Here's mine - refin but with original TRC. Yours looks like a later narrow bevel without the script. A nice touch to find a repro if they're available.

I see. If it was mine, I'd probably try to find one.

I'd probably contact Dan at Mojoaxe. He's a member here. He knows about vintage correct details, and is reasonably priced.

Great advice - Dan has provided quite a few repro parts for me over the years and he really knows his stuff. The one on the right of the picture looks very similar to the original TRC on my 61 but Dan will know what's correct.

yes that TRC sure sticks out as not belonging to that guitar. Crazy parts has a proper TRC. and while you are at it, replace the tuning pegs with proper double rings.

What is the serial number range of this guitar? The guitar should have 2 PAF pickups.

I am liking the colour...was this a refinish or original?
very nice indeed

Yeah, I looked at the crazyparts website, but couldn't find a script engraved trc. Would you mind sending a link?

Also, who sells good double-ring pegs nowadays? Thanks.

I had the serial number on it but it was a long time ago. All I did was paint and clearcoat the neck joint someone else repaired a long time ago.

StewMac appear not to have it in stock and I couldn't find one on Crazyparts website. I'd try Dan at Mojoaxe.

Personally I wouldn't worry about single ring tuners on a good player grade 61. You can probably see that my refin 61 has single rings (actually a spare aged set I had got form Crazyparts for another guitar). The sideways, bridge and poker chip are aged repros on mine too.

The 'Les Paul' TRC would bother me if it didn't look right because its part of the history of the 1960-1963 LP/SG transition.

We all have different views about what matters with these things. Good luck getting a replacement TRC for your 61 - a bit of staining of the Les Paul lettering from immersion in cold coffee helps the look if you get one!!!

I have to say that the I did not find the LP TRC on Crazy Parts when I looked so it is gone. I think the Stew Mac has the Gibson Custom shop one and looks correct but last week it was in stock but today itis not in stock. Creamtone had some but they are sold out. Looks like the best best is to get the Gibson custom shop one. Actually, the 1960 LP/SG model does not have a Les Paul script on the TRC, it was blank. So you could use the wide bevel TRC.
Here is my 1961 followed by the 1960 LP/SG
