I know it's probably not appropriate for this forum.
(But this is the only one i can post to.)
i do find the 68/69 gold tops (copies of a 1956)
somewhat interesting. This particular model has all
the good stuff (p90 pickups and one piece neck
and body), but has the larger peghead. guitar is
amazing lightweight too (i remember these as all
being really heavy.) Just got this one from a guy
in WI (took the ferry over to Muskegon MI and i
met him at the ferry site.) Easy to spot the guy,
the only one with a LP case in their hand!

Odd that the neck is a different color than the guitar back/body?

Very nice aquisition. Right forum, but wrong section. The Vintage section is 52-61 LP area. Post in the Sunburst Pub and you will get a ton of niceness.
Guitar appears to be one of the early 69's. The big headstock missing dot on the I. Checkout www.latesixtieslespauls.com

Actually, it says 1952-60 LP's. So a 1961 sc LP Custom belongs in the sunburst pub? :hmm
(Only joking.. :2cool )

You mean you can post here, but not in the Sunburst Pub? :bigal

I have never heard of anything like that. :hmm

Perhaps a Moderator will move this to the appropriate place. :)

VERY COOL lp GT.
Nice score too...
CHF can you give me a idea how much those are going for?
Whats the matket value for a 68GT? I have seen some people asking for crazy money for 68-69 LP's.What can you say about that?

Thanks in advance - Andreja

Better keep that one away from Wilko -- I can already hear him revving up the router!

Were these sold as "56 reissues" ? I never noticed the neck heals were shaped like double cut vintage Specials/Juniors and that they didn't have the control cavity "Bite"? You could write a book on what I don't know about these late 60's LPs, but it sure does look nice!

I think the economy has taken a big bite out
of the sales numbers for 68/69 models. i remember
2 years ago i was getting a new (to me) burst,
and i traded a pile of stuff to a guy to get the
burst. One was a 68 goldtop. he gave me $15k
credit, which just blew me away. he later sold
the 68 for like $17. wow, who i guess those
were the days!

i called him when i got the 69. i'm not a 100% i'm
keeping it, so i thought i would float it by him,
seeing how he was so generous with the 68. he
said about $6.5 is all he would go on the 69,
and would try and retail it at $8.0 (and that it
may take some time to get that number.) so basically
these things have cut themselves in half during
this economic downturn. which doesn't really
surprise me.

But your 68 was different, with the smaller headstock, right?
So, I wouldn't expect prices to be equal. :)

I just moved 3 small headstock 68s routed for humbuckers (one sunbursted) in the 6k neigborhood.

One of those I bought at the top of the market for 7k (routed with other issues)

TW,

I wish someone would move this where it belongs. I agree with you completely.

Just a quick note, Jimi, no "bite".
