Fender brought rosewood fingerboards to the production line-up in 1959-
threatening . . . . . . . to Gibson management in 1959.

'59's a magic year in Fender world as well, amp wise there's the Bassman for starters I don't know about the SRV thing, I thought his was a '62? Or, maybe just the neck was a '62?? ... not sure.

I do know this, a lot of the '59 Strats I've played and owned were absolutely killer instruments. I had a blond one, ash body, with an early slab board, single ply guard, and that thing just KILLED with tone.

I used to have a killer mid-summer '59 slabboard with a rare 10-screw single-ply white pickguard. "Never should have sold that..." :dang

I used to have a 2-color '61 slab...but I don't care for RW fingerboards on Fenders, so....
