UPDATE on Post #22:
::::
So I got really fed up with the the rapid volume issue. I pulled the harness out (Switch, Jack and all) and stored it away safely in a ag with a silica pack. I ordered some vintage style 550k Audio Taper pots, .02 PIO Caps, Switchcraft switch and jack and rewired a new harness. I really enjoy 50s wiring so I did it up that way.
I popped it all back in and I wish I did this sooner.. Nearly perfect taper, not as subtle as my 56 or 69, but a dramatic improvement. Along with the regret, new wider spaced nut, this guitar is a ripper. If I was a studio player or touring pro, I probably could do everything with this 335 and my Tele..
Hey All,

Original thread:
I've seen a few threads on this but nothing that really answers or resolves the issue. My all original 1966 ES-335 TDC has really crummy volume taper on both pickups. With either the Neck or Bridge PU only, the volume basically is unsuable lower than 8. From 10-8 is okay, but as soon as you crack it to 7.65'ish it's really drastic and begins to cut off quickly. For this reason, I rarely pick this guitar up.
I sprayed the pots with DeOxit, that did nothing.. The pots are smooth and not exhibiting any crackling or noise.
Considering this topic has come up with other owners of mid 60s ES335, is there a resolution or even a reason? Did Gibson wire these weird or used different taper pots? The Tone knobs taper perfectly BTW. I need to get my inspection mirror out to see how its wired, but could it possibly be that its because it has modern wiring and not 50s wiring ( I would need to confirm which I have)?
For reference my 66' ES330 tapers beautifully, I would have thought they both share the same wiring and pot types.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
