69 SG cable loose in output jack

I have a 69-70 SG Special here, looks to be all original, however the output jack will crackle if the cord is moved. The jack is not a Switchcraft style, it's one of the ones with the black plastic surround, adjusting the contact does not seem to help, it seems like the cable end is slightly loose in the housing. Is that a common issue with a vintage jack or are there cables that have a thicker diameter? Thanks for any input ; )

Jack looks like this:

Replace it- it's consumable- just stick that one in the case. I am sure someone could restore (the plug is retained by a spring feature inside) it but it not worth the cost.
