I've seen a few comments on Robbo's Les Pauls here so thought I would add something that I have been reading this morning.

Quote... "Robbo's got 5 Les Pauls at the time of writing, a 53 Standard, a 62 Black model (Custom), a 3 pup SG shaped Les Paul custom (60), a 65 Deluxe, and a 70 Standard. He's also a firm believer in the "older the better" maxim." In the article, it mentions that the Deluxe has been fitted with humbuckers from a 62.
In the article, there is a picture of Robbo relaxing on the ground in front of his guitar collection holding a bottle of booze. It has always been one of the coolest pictures that I remember from my youth. At the time I was desperate to own a Les Paul but could not afford one!

As always there are some errors in these old interviews (either the journalist or the musician himself, there was no internet back then ). I also remember an interview with Scott in which he talks about his Deluxe LP as a '67.

On the subject of Brian Robertson...
Years ago, an ex-girlfriend of mine turned up at my house with her new husband. Or possibly boyfriend at the time. Anyway, I was introduced and as the conversation went on, he mentioned that he played bass in a band. That's cool I would have thought. He told me that the band had just been doing a new video of a Lizzy song called Emerald. I was thinking along the lines of some friend with a handheld camcorder thing but he mentioned that it was as at some rock festival in Europe and that Brian Robertson had guested on it! I later got to see the video at the bass player's house and low and behold there was Robbo.

Another Robbo tale, not directly linked to me as such but still of interest (in that I would have enjoyed being there) was when I took my stepson to a mortgage advisor for advice on buying a house. I have not got a clue how the talk got into guitars and Thin Lizzy, but Mike (I think?) was a HUGE lizzy and Les Paul guitar fan. He told me about how each year he traveled to the Phil Lynott Vibe event in Dublin and by chance and by accident he found himself in a lock-in at a bar (after hours drinking) and Robbo became his drunken drink partner. He told me that they were hammered with booze. Nothing to be proud of, but I wish that I could have been there. Imagine going to an event filled with great Lizzy tributes and then drinking with a rock legend.

More than a few errors ...... some of those guitars never existed!

I think this is the '53 mentioned nowadays. Robbo mentioned in interviews that it was originally built as a gift from Les Paul to his wife Mary Ford.

This is a great photo of Robbo's old Les Paul. As mentioned, I believe the story was of it having been made as a gift for Mary Ford from Les Paul. A piece of history!
