A shame. Brian is a great player and a great guy. I remember first seeing him playing a Strat at Max’s Kansas City in the late 1970’s with his band The Bloodless Pharaohs. Brian has always been an inspiration; one of the best guitarists to come out of that era in NYC. I sold him an old white reverse Firebird V once. I wish him a speedy recovery.

That is a shame - I saw the Stray Cats in Auckland, NZ 2009 - small venue (Powerstation), and man it rocked. What I can recall clearly is how good the mix was - his guitar was loud but beautifully compressed. It was quite something.

I read about this the other day, and it really sucks. I hope he's able to get back to a point he can at least do what he loves so much to a degree. Even if he cannot go back to being a touring beast, at least enough where he can enjoy something that is so much a part of his life.

Jeez - this is terrible news. Such a terrific player, even when he was still a kid. People thought it was producer Dave Edmunds who played the great solo on Runaway Boys, but it was young Brian.

Good memories - saw him one evening tear up Caesar's Palace with the Orchestra, then decided on the whim to renew the vows with the wife. The limo of the LWC picked us up, we paid $60 for the 'service' plus a photo shoot under the fake palm trees - that was a fun night.

Get well Mr Setzer!

Hopefully he can regain use of his hands enough to gig again. He lives in Minnesota now, he used to stop at my late friend Jim Harms music store, as it was the closest shop to him that stocked flat wound jazz box strings.
