Yes, they are.... If there were no differences of opinions, people would still think the world is flat.. There would be no cure most deadly ailments. AND most of all, if people didn't have different opinions, people would still be enslaved working on plantations.
Differing opinions are always needed, and often just cloud the waters. Truth wins out. The earth is not flat. No other opinion needed, or valid.

I never thought I'd say this, but when Clapton dies, there's going to be the same reaction the world had when George Harrison died. And lots of musicians and other people will probably be coming from all over the country just to pay their respects to EC.

Eric Clapton may not live to be 100, but he is still an influence to many guitar players. Do you think Noel Gallagher would have existed if it weren't for Eric?

If this is true, this is the worst of Clapton's crimes listed so far.

Clapton made covid political. He did not get injured by a vaccine and he spread misinformation and fought against proper safeguards. Free speach does not give anyone the right to yell fire ina. crowded theater nor does it protect one from the repercussions of their words.

Yelling fire in a crowded theater can't be subsumed under free speech because it creates the illusion of an imminent threat which would probably cause mass panic.
Sharing information that might be wrong or incomplete regarding covid never bears the potential of causing such a severe reaction.

He (probably) did not get injured by a vaccine in terms of long term damage but suffered severe reactions - The same reactions which led to the stop of the use of this specific vaccine in almost complete continental Europe.
Why so? Because of misinformation or Clapton being evil? No, because the same scientists your worship came to the conclusion that the imminent danger outweighs the benefit.

The specific vaccine which Clapton was referring to has never been used in the USA and no use authorization. Guess you're the science denier now lol ;)

The quoted text in your reply (#162) attributed to me aren't my words Wilko, they belong to NYCBURST.

It is my opinion that we really don't understand CV-19 or the total implications of the vaccine in the population in toto. A coworker is vaxed and boosted- got a pretty nasty dose- and lives in a house with unvaxed wife and son who didn't get it. If I fed my family w my hands and suddenly did what the authorities insisted on- to travel- and be around others incl venues- then hands and feet stopped what they had been doing since inception- I might get upset.
Then a tool from the press decides to print it- because I am EC.
I gave up profanity for NY- again.
People who have never said or done anything they later regret are probably incapable of accurate self-appraisal. I am sometimes not responsible for what I say/do when alarmed- that doesn't make me a bad person.
It just makes me a person.

You don't know Robert. You have never met him. I have. That's not how he operates. Your comment is way off.
How would you know that? Do you realize how ridiculous that statement is? "You don't know him, you've never met him, I have" I'm dying laughing... You don't even know who I am and you're making a statement like that .... This conversation is over.... Have a nice day

I can't hardly make sense of these posts anymore. This thread will likely make the all-time LPF hall of shame top 10 list 🤣

I have a very relevant meme pic but can’t figure out how to post it on this new format.

There's also an Eric Clapton tribute band called Journeyman with Shaun Hague on lead guitar. They're a very good bar band.

Pete Townshend has also been criticized for saying similar things. Anyone remember the interview Pete did recently where he said he was glad that John Entwistle and Keith Moon are dead? A lot of Who fans like myself were quite surprised when he said that.

It should also be noted that Clapton claimed recently that he has no memory whatsoever of recording Journeyman, August or Behind The Sun because of his personal and health problems in the Eighties. Eric Clapton also played guitar on the Cyndi Lauper album A Night To Remember, alongside Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers and Duran Duran bassist John Taylor. Talk about personnel!

There's also a story somewhere that Ringo Starr (one of Clapton's greatest allies) had asked Richard Perry to produce an album for Clapton in the seventies, given Richard's good success with Ringo.
However, when Clapton first met Richard, he subsequently sacked him, and later claimed in an interview that he fired Richard Perry because he claimed that Perry's production values "didn't make sense". Didn't make sense! Have you ever fired somebody from a record you were making because their creative input doesn't make sense?

What is your source for these huge EC memory lapses?

Clapton has admitted it in lots of interviews.

There's also a guy named Harmless Dave that has made several videos about Clapton that talk about his memory lapses.

At least Eric Clapton and Van Morrison had profound influences and were never accused of ripping off Ray Charles and Sam Cooke. I have nothing negative to say about Van or EC.
