I have been searching for an LP for a while. I keep coming back to the Standard 60’s LP. The neck is more suitable to my hand. I have just gone through Gibson’s site for Custom Shop. The only 60’s neck choices currently on the site are both Historic collection 1968 reissues. A Gold top and an Ebony. I am a little surprised at the small selection. Are the 60’s necks just not as popular? There are a ton of 50’s in the Custom shop. Have past years produced more from the Custom shop? It is close to impossible for me to find one in the wild. Do I trust that either of these two will have the Standard 60’s neck that I like?

Authentic '68 Medium C-Shape profile measurements: .900 1st - 1.010 12th.

I thought it was going to be too beefy for me in hand, but actually I quite enjoy it.

My sense is there's less shoulder than the 57 LPC and more depth than a R9, and the shape is in-between those two, but I haven't used a profile 'shape' tool, so that's just my feel...

I would advise you play it first.........they are wanky with their neck descriptions. I recently bought a WW 1960 with a v2 profile which is closer to a r9 than a "slim taper". I also have 2002 R0 with a killer thin neck which has shoulders but is not deep. I also have a 93 Classic PP with a very thin neck........the website doesnt even acknowledge the V1, V2, V3 profile stuff any longer. If you have a specific profile in mind try to play it first....the measurements they give do not really address the shoulders and overall feeling of the neck......

Yes! Everything is slightly different, slightly unique, given the hand finishing.

Play it first is highly recommended if you can althouh sometimes online is the only way to get something, in that case make sure you know the return policy.

Regarding the V1-V2-V3 on the website: this wouldn't happen since they've retired those profiles from normal CS production. If you see those from a year after the 2020 60th Anniversary of the 1960s it's going to be non-standard in terms of specification -- either the dealer ordered a run, or it was part of Made-to-Measure or another 'special order' oddball situation. Therefore, haven't been on the website under the Historic Collection, as that was only for the 2020s.

I just bought a 24 R0 from Wildwood (2024 ser#) with a V2 neck.........may they ordered them that way........WW's neck descriptions for 1960 standards are all over the place
