Do you think they will do Brazilian again?

I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether or not the brazilian will reappear in any of the future re-issues. I am pretty sure that it doesn't make any difference in tone or playability, but the braz boards I have seen definitely have the red streaks you don't see on others.

One thought that occurs to me is that the fury created by this wood sparked a real frenzy at a time when money was tight all around. (in the interest of full disclosure, my braz board R6 arrives tomorrow, shipped from Gibson on 5/31).

So, what do you think, will this happen again?

Here's a picture of my board, complete with red swirlies.

Check out the banner ad for Music Machine:

That is brazilian.

I am sure that one day it will return. They have the ability to get the wood and it sure seems that people like it for whatever reason. One day they'll decide that the $$$'s outweigh any environmental associations. Then again I could be wrong :)

They didn't stop shipping guitars with Braz boards because they ran out of wood... ;)

Nah, I know dealers that are getting in the regular Indian boarded historics again. I'm sure they will be great guitars just as every other year has been for historics. I'm still looking to pick up an R6 with a Bigsby and it won't bother me one bit to buy one at the lower 03 prices.

My inlays are moons, my board is Brazilian, and nobody around here cares. ;)

I admit I bought into it...

I just bought a guitar I cannot afford (how many of you have done that?). And I'm not sure if this purchase is going to turn out to be a smart purchase (don't think I'll ever let it go), or something I was tricked into buying by Gibson.

I already had an R9, it's an 01 so there's no investment value there, so it was time for a gold top. I didn't want to get another HB guitar (I have a Custom as well), so the R6 seemed right.

Trying to throw the "It never was Brazilian" shit against the wall to see if it sticks with the rest of us who know better is bad enough....doing it to a relatively new poster who might not know any better is lame. I don't know if you have ever even seen an 03 historic, but my niece could pick out the brazilian if you showed her a few examples and she is 5.

I dont care if it is collectible and I dont think it sounds any better, but it is what it is.

I love PRS guitars by the way, but I think you knew that! :)

I'm going down to my friend's house tonight to fire up the Q, maybe I'll throw the guitar in the truck and take a few pictures. The sunlight really brings out the rivet rash... :)spin

THe R6's are great guitars. Can't beat that P90 tone. You'll love it with or without the BRW board!

With all due respect, you are WAY OUT OF LINE.

1. You don't know that my board is not Brazilian. For that matter, no one here does.

2. I never said it never was Brazilian. What I object to is the hype that makes new users (like the guy you think you're protecting) run out and buy guitars they can't afford because they think they're special. There is NO PROOF FROM GIBSON. How will they prove it when they try to resell it to recoup their "special value"?

3. I will take you or your niece on any day. There is so much variation among woods from the same species that even experts become confused. Whatever it is that you think you're seeing, it isn't proof.
