Dussy 56 - trem arm too long

I was waiting till I broke a string to put the dussy on. Job done. They do work very well.

Only thing is the trem arm is too long and the bend is too far back to make it short enough. I'll need to cut it shorter and re-bend it. Or maybe cut the tip end off and somehow put a new tip on it. Any advice? I'll probably ask a luthier to do it for me, unless it's easy enough to do myself. I'd have 4 Dussy trems to do this to. I wonder why they're so long.

They feel more responsive than a Bigsby and have the most non-invasive installation imaginable. Just remove the stoptail and pop the base on the holes with its own screws.

The small issues I've found with it are that the arm is too long for the way I like to pick and hook the pinky over the end. And the holes are about 1mm too close together for the vintage original spec. I just file out one side of the hole slightly on the base unit. But it works well with no tuning issues.

You should give one a try. If it's not for you it's easy enough to put the stoptail back on.

I’d imagine the tip simply unscrews (?) ..just pop it , chop it..re-thread it or epoxy it

Yeah I don't know if it comes off. I've tried, but I don't have a vice so maybe I just need to try harder.

I have plenty of vices.

Also plenty of VISEs.

On that I would probably try a rubber cap snaffler (for the kitchen as in jar opener).
