I just wanted to share this with you guys. I live in NYC and have been really bored lately. Most of my friends have been away on the weekends with weddings, family gatherings, etc... I recently just started going to school (MBA) again and with work I never seem to have as much time to play anymore. I usually reserve that for the weekends. Anyway, with the weather being so nice lately, I have felt guilty staying in and playing guitar. I decided to get a battery powered amp and some pedals so that I can go sit in the park or by the East River and play. I chose the Fender Amp can and was wondering if anyone here has used one. I was totally surprised with how good it sounds. I mean it won't replace my Rivera but then again it is tiny and can run for hours on a charge. It has two channels, one for instrument the other for mic. It is really loud and sounds great. You can even plug in an MP3 play (like I do) in the mic channel and jam with it. The guitar channel has switchable distortion which is pretty good. To have some variation, I bought a used BOSS Metal Zone and I am presently looking for a used BOSS RV-3 Reverb/delay. I tried this combo in the store and it is really an amazing combo. The Metal Zone is much more versatile then it sounds. I picked up a mint one for $50, a mint NS-2 for $50 and want the RV-3 to round it out. I plan on getting the 3 pedal BOSS plastic pedalboard and maybe even throwing a tuner in it. With that I will have a truly portable rig that actually sounds pretty good and is inexpensive.
