The one I have the opportunity on s one of the 25. What would a good ballpark be on one?

No idea, just what one would pay. Think I paid like $1,800 new...if it is one of the first group from Charlie's...could be a collectable to some.

But I'm not one to think that any post 1966 Fender or Gibson is a "collectable", just a guitar, which is not a bad thing at all. Love good guitars, old or new.

The lipstick tube PUs really give the instrument and uniquely funking voice. The V neck on mine is outstanding. The Tele knobs, MOTS guard, painted headstock and TX maps all give it great character.

Ok i'll play. Here are my 3 Fender CS :

1954 reissue Stratocaster (2004 / 50th anniversary master built )
i'm not a strat guy but this i love this guitar. the neck is perfect, the pickups are warm and fat, very light weight.

1963 reissue Telecaster (made in 2000, closet classic finish)
the checking on the body could have been better (looks artificial), but the nos ones are hard to find. plenty of classic 60's tele tones with this one !

1951 reissue Nocaster (made in 1999, nos finish)
a mix between a Cunetto and a "time machine" : hot and fat bridge pickup, bigger frets, big neck but not like the later models, different color ...
i had 5 other nocasters before finding this one, which is definitely the best specimen.

Here's a couple of Wildwood 10's I have:
The Dakota Red Strat is a 1959 Reissue /w Braz board, John English neck profile, and John Cruz pickups.
The Sonic Blue Tele is a '52 Reissue with a 56-V neck profile, a flat pole Broadcaster bridge PU and a Twisted Tele neck PU.
Both have a 10" radius, of course.

1992 "set-neck" Strat with mahogany body/maple cap, ebony fretboard, SD JB in bridge and Texas Specials middle/neck. I'm the 2nd owner, got it for a bargain.

I've never had a "set neck" Fender. . . do you notice any difference in the sustain or playability?

I think it's a great idea as opposed to the bolt on but I'm sure they charge a pretty penny for that!!

It sustains better than a bolt on neck, but if it were a hard tail it would sustain like a LP.

Plays really nice all over the neck. My brother is a diehard LP player but he likes this strat. I was told that the fretboard is a compound radius.

I like mahogany as a tonewood, it works quite well on this set-neck. It can still spank like a strat with the single coils. Very versatile guitar.

Fender CS told me that those set-necks had Dimarzio humbuckers. I sent them this pic and they were surprised that it is a SD JB not Dimarzio. The original owner bought it as an investment and rarely played it so not likely that he changed the pups. Have yet to see another set-neck with these pickups.

Not standard strat wiring either. The middle tone knob is master tone. The lower tone knobs blends neck and bridge pickups, when you have the bridge on then it takes on that Gibson tone. Not quite a LP but pretty good.

I had one of these and I miss it. The neck chapel was perfect. Probably one of the few I wish I still had... though I did not like the checking on the body. Probably the reason I ultimately parted with it. Bothered me. Looked more like stain glass checking on mine than natural checking.

Mine is a Mark Kendrick one, and didn't have any checking when i got it ... You should try to find an other one made by him, it seems the models he built for this run were not aged :ola

Mike Slub - is your Taos one a '60 RI Taos over Sonic or Daphne?
Hot Snake - that's a great looking '54 RI, shame you sold it isn't it part of the limited run of 1954 guitars?

I bought this new 51 Nocaster today. It's a literally a NOS guitar, built in 2007 with a very unique Shoreline Gold finish and 9.5 radius neck... I love it! :jim
