Hello everyone. I'm Jeremy from South Texas. I have been playing the guitar for a total of 18 days. It all started after a bad accident at work. A 17 year old driver failed to stop at an intersection and struck our work vehicle. I was riding in the front passenger seat. Thankfully, we all survived the accident. I will be going to rehab and recovering at home until the doctor clears me to return to work. So, I really needed something to do that would keep my mind off of the pain. Learning the guitar seemed like a good idea. The only guitar that I knew anything about was the Gibson Les Paul. So, I walked into my local Guitar Center and found a beautiful Les Paul Standard '60's Limited-Edition Honey Lemon Burst. I figured if I can't learn to play it at least I can look at it. The sales associate didn't believe that this Les Paul would be my very first guitar. It took him a few seconds to really believe me. He was super cool. I asked him to also recommend an amp for me. We walked over to a Boss Katana 50 watt gen 3 amp. I wish my wife looked at me the way he looked at that amp. So, I bought the amp too. I am on day 18 of an online 30 day beginner guitar program. I have learned so much already! This learning adventure has really been fun and therapeutic. The best part is that my wife loves this guitar. Wishing everyone the best. Thank you.

I wanted a guitar that would be good to go out of the box and not cause me any additional frustration while learning. I was so naive and really believed that Les Paul’s were made near perfection. It was not until after the purchase that I learned about some bad years at Gibson and questionable Les Paul’s. So, I really feel lucky to happen upon this wonderful Les Paul. When I got home on the first day, all I knew to do was strum the open strings. I loved the sound and the whole guitar was vibrating. The guitar felt like it was alive. I was transported to a place of pain free and drug free happiness.

Everything happens for a reason.. and this is a truly a blessing for you..
My only advice for a beginner is..
never stop playing.. it’ll be your best friend and your other soul mate.. no matter what..
just keep playing !

get well soon..
Thank you Marc.

What kind of music do you like?
The short answer is Rock and Blues.

Before I begin the long answer, go ahead and grab yourself an adult beverage.

I grew up in the 70's. When I was 8 years old there was one cassette tape that I really wanted. I didn't think anyone in my family would buy it for me. To earn the money I needed to buy the cassette tape, I started raking leaves, picking up dead sticks and branches from the neighborhood lawns and recycling empty soda bottles and beer cans that I found along the roadsides. I finally earned all the money to buy the cassette tape and asked my sister to drive me to the store. I bought the very last KISS cassette tape in town. I was too young to know it was their disco album lol. The next band that caught my undivided attention was ZZ TOP with the Eliminator album. In 1984, I was sitting in my cousin's brand new blacked out Trans-AM and waiting for him to get in the car. I noticed a new cassette tape on the console. The artwork showed a baby smoking a cigarette and I thought it was so funny. I popped that new cassette in the tape deck and had my mind blown away by Eddie Van Halen. When I was 14 years old, my uncle would let me drive his old pickup truck around the family farm. I found an old cassette tape in the truck and popped it into the tape deck. This heavy riff started playing through the speakers and I had to stop the truck to listen to this powerful song. A woman with an angelic voice started to sing. The song was so powerful and full of emotion. I parked the truck under a shade tree and listened to Barracuda over and over. The next artist that grabbed my attention was Stevie Ray Vaughan when I heard Crossfire. I went to school with a couple of kids named Vaughan. I asked them if they had heard of Stevie Ray Vaughan? They said he was their cousin and I thought they were pulling my leg. I still remember hanging out with the Vaughan's in their driveway. We all heard the phone ring and Tina said her mom would answer it. Then we heard Tina's mom scream and we all ran inside the house. That was the night that Stevie Ray Vaughan died in the helicopter crash. Shortly thereafter, I deployed to Desert Shield/Storm. Well, that is all for now. Thank you for joining me on this trip down memory lane.
