Interesting move from Gibson....I wonder if it will be something that will stick.

Didn't Fender do this a while ago as well? Not sure if they kept that vintage program up...can't seem to find it on their site...but I remember they had some custom colour 60s Strats up for sale at some point.

A screenshot from the Gibson Website.
1961 Les Paul Junior ?
I guess it doesn't matter...it's sold already.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if they botch a certification (i.e. certify a replica, miss a repair)

I'm sure the people who write the words on the website are different than the experts they utilize to verify a guitar.

Joe M. has a 1960 listed, that looks to be in very similar condition. The asking price is $325k.

Very likely yes, but the web folks would probably publish from a draft made by the verifying experts I think..

I sure hope the people who write the words on the website are different than the experts they utilize to verify a guitar.

As well as the people who write the certificate of authenticity
"Only Gibson can verify the true value & authenticity" ?

I have never been to the Gibson Garage, but I wonder if they bought back the all the stuff
they sold to Eric at the Kalamazoo Auction.

this is a direct take off of what Rolex just did (not sure who here is into watches I am ) rolex just started a certified pre owned program to capitalize on the fact that their watches sell 2nd hand for more they charge new. Gibson is finally trying to figure out how to get involved in making money off its own old products. it makes sense but i cant imagine it will be easy for them to keep inventory of bursts haha

Makes sense for them to do this.
Folks who want to sell their vintage gibbys have a one stop 'shop' to go to, the name says it all, however they would get more $$ on the open market possibly, just depends if Gibson are heavy handed or otherwise with their 'wholesale buy' price, eg would the seller be offered a 'pawn broker' amount for their instrument ?
I hope not.

I don't know, that whole "Gibson Garage" concept looks like it was well thought out, and obviously
is leading to somewhere. It would be nice if they were as accommodating to their other high end, and
Historic Reissue customers. Authentication Service, Replacement COA's, OEM Cases and Case Candy.
Treating people like true family, not second cousins, twice removed.

The reward for the missing ledger with the serials might have something to do with this.
