I bought some of these Collector’s Pickups for comparison purposes, and to my surprise, they sound incredible and get the job done. They are not as vintage accurate as I would have liked looks wise, but I’ve learned by now to be wary of Gibson’s historically accurate claims. They sound every bit as good as my Wizz, ThroBak, Rolph, OTPGs, and finally my PAFs, if that means anything. I also think the Custom Buckers are great pickups, but I’m glad Gibson is going in this direction.

Limited edition. Limited to how fast they can make and sell them.

Just saying from what I read about Gibson's "59" Humbucker Collector's Edition Series 1 I've been ahead of the game since 2011 with Electric City Pickups RD "59" low winds in a LPB7.

I’ve been using original PAF’s since 1975. These new pickups sound pretty goof. Every set of original PAF’s sounds slightly different. Reason why is the wood of the guitar. No two pieces of wood can ever sound the same. Similar yes, identical No!
I have two ES-335’s, one is a ’64 reissue and the other is ‘61 reissue, both Murphy Lab’s. Both sound great and the ‘64 has Wizz pickups and the ‘61 has the new Custombuckers. I wouldn’t change much of anything on either! I have a small stash of “stickered” T-Tops and I’m quite happy with the all the pickups I have!

Still haven’t installed mine? I decided to put a set of early PAT# in, and
play them for a while. For base point of comparison.
One thing in particular; I’ve started recording my practice, playing and noticed that I pretty much sound the same, regardless of the pickups.

What’s your serial? I thought they began at CI0001 and just go up. Cause those on reverb are like 114,115,176 then I noticed newly sold out batch has #CI0064. So I’m like hmmmm weird numbering…

So I bought a set of these. I took note in the most recent batch Gibson are starting to put protective films over the covers when on the early batches Gibson did not. The pickup rings are also a little different from the True Historic pickup rings that come on the Historics.

They should put more authentic covers on rather than worry over a plastic film

Hmmm I figured they’d be close the mid 200s? But I know someone who received theirs yesterday and serial was below 100

Wait, are you saying that and electric guitar's sound isn't exclusively the electronics?! The wood actually matters?! Scandalous!

⬆️ (sarcasm)

We're in the same camp.

Someone offered me a set in trade for a guitar I have listed on Reverb. The item I have listed is about $1600. I didn't take them, but the guy was pretty adamant that I was an idiot for turning him down.

I figure if I install them and don't like them I'll lose about $300 because they won't be collector grade anymore. Plus, I don't need any fancy pickups, or 'pups' as the forum-speak goes!
