Hiwatt Bulldog DC-40 combo any good?

I've got a line on a Hiwatt DC 40 1x12 combo. It looks to be in great shape. From what I can tell it gives up 40 watts from 4 EL84s. It's got two channels (selectable with a foot switch) and an effects loop (also footswitchable).

Anyone tried one of these things? What do you think of it? Is $550 a good price?

Thanks,

Stratbuster

My gut tells me that it is a Fernandes product, which means it is Hiwatt in name only..... IMHO, you could probably do better for the $$$$$ with something else...

I had one, for a week or so :biglaugh: . I tried new tubes and different speakers and a Hiwatt 4x12 I had as well and ended up selling it. I did not care for it's sterile sound and the overdrive channel was :toobad :toobad . If you're looking for a good tube amp look elsewhere :2cents
