• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I think I've found the ultimate practice/bedroom/low watt amp! Satellite Gammatron!

Hey everyone. I'm SO STOKED about this one. I'm a HUGE fan of Satellite Amps. A great boutique amp company that just makes amazing stuff. I've got three of their other amps. Adam Grimm, Mr Satellite, just launched a new low watt bedroom/recording amp. The Gammatron. It's a 2.8w amp with one 12AX7 for the preamp and one 12BH7 for the power amp. These can also be switched to either spot, and other tubes used for the power section like a 12AU7 and 12AT7. All hand wired and true PTP, as well as Mercury Magnetics transformers. Two simple controls, volume and tone. That's it. Just like all Satellite amps. Once I saw it, I had to have one.

In short, this little guy is amazing and a fire breather. Nice clean tones with chime and jangle until 10 o'clock on the volume. From there until noon introduces drive and hair. Great for blues and rockabilly. Noon is about full volume and yields a sweet classic rock crunch. From there, it's more drive and compression. 3 o'clock gives a great AC/DC type tone, and dimes is a little more with additional compression. Bottom end never flubs out. Stays very tight and defined.

I've plugged into a Marshall 1960BX w/Greenbacks and she just sounds so sweet. But, it's truly bedroom level like tones. I'm blown away. I can play at loud TV volumes into a 4x12 and not make my wife mad!!!! But, it still sounds like a big amp. This is truly a great piece of gear.

Great job Adam Grimm and Satellite amps! If you are in the market for a great bedroom/practice/low volume amp, check this one out. It's seriously amazing!

My head was $569 shipped. You can get them in combos or just the bare chassis too (cheapest - under $500).

Yep saw the Dave Rig Rundown where he talks about the Barracuda, he seems to think they're a cracking amp.

This Gammatro looks interesting :salude

Great to hear more praise for Satellite. They are hands down one of my favorite amp companies. Didn't know the guy from Counting Crows was using a Barracuda. Cool stuff.
