• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Killer tone and technique...

Beautiful singing and playing.
That tone sounded like a can of bees to me.
I think I'm particularly sensitive to that...I seldom hear an OD box that doesn't sound fizzy.

Tons of respect for Knopfler as a player (and Tom Jones singing). Nothing but respect. And it's a fantastic performance (thanks for posting!) ... But I have to agree about the tone. That was not my favorite example of great LP tone....

I was a kid in the heyday of Tom Jones.
I thought he was a bit silly...the open shirts and women throwing underwear onstage.
In the early 80s, when I was getting into a serious band, I started looking at performers with different eyes/ears.
That's when I realized Tom was a total badass.
