• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Has anyone played or owned one of the korina LP issues? My only experience with korina is with an '81 Moderne I own. The tone of this guitar is unique compared to the mahogany guitars in that there's a bump in the upper mids with an arier upper treble.. Not better or worse than mahogany, but a cool difference to be sure. Low output p/u really bring out the bet of this wood as well. I wonder how that recipe would work in a traditional LP format. Probably wouldn't need a maple cap. Bet it sounds glorious.

I owned two of the late '90's Korina reissues with the quilted maple tops. They were both above average sounding LP's. Korina seems to have that slightly different filtered midrange honk going compared to mahogany. The lowend is maybe tighter, or maybe just more low mids and less bottom. Pickup changes with these didn't seem to have as much affect of the overall sound as it does with a regular reissue. I've been tempted by that three pickup solid korina custom LP deal the put out some years ago but never got to try one.

I suspected they sound great. I think Korina is a great tone wood. Surprised it's not used more often.
Only 2 posts on these guitars?
There has to be more experiences out there.
