Les Paul Junior Special Pickups--P90s or P100s?

IMO, the average person, which includes most GC salesmen, have never heard of a P-100. To them, if it looks like a P-90, it’s a P-90.
It all boils down to exactly what Big Al said above: Plug the damn thing in. If it hums, it’s a P-90.

Well, AI ain't perfect. As accountants would say, Crap In - Crap Out. Here's the AI answer it got when I asked when Gibson used P-100s in their Les Paul Specials (like my '95)?

See this Google AI explanation:

Your AI doesn't know shit from shinola. I've bought two 80's Specials, and they both had P100s! My 2023 Special has P90s.

Not necessarily, I have single coil Fenders that aren't noisy.
I invite you to play at Nextdoor in Honolulu where the rooms wiring is so RF abundant, no single coil is immune to it. The P-100s on my '95 LP Special worked great. No noise. But my EBMM Albert Lee with 3 strat-style single coils roared with noise. Lesson: Check the room out before playing there. DUH!

PS - When I bought the LP Special with P-100s I wasn't familiar with the sound of P-90s, so I wasn't expecting a certain sound. I was happy because it was a whole new sound that I liked.

I bought one in 2001 and it has P100s, but I see many for sale that imply, or even state, they're equipped with P90s. Did Gibson issue the guitar with both?
I had a 93 and 96 LP special both w P100’s, it’s easy to tell because the 100’s are two stacked p90 coils. At the time I hated them and replaced them with P90’s, but now I wonder if they were/are as bad as I thought they were. 🤣

I had a '91 Special with the stock P100s and loved it, especially the neck pu. Great guitar, should have never sold it. Reminded me of the finish and quality of the early 60s SGs I owned.

Interesting. I had a treble bleed circuit put on the neck P-100 pickup ('95 LP Special) which made it so much more useful when the volume is turned down. It doesn't get dark. And when the volume is wide open, the pickup sound isn't changed.IMG_1430.JPG
