Lightweight tailpiece...how can I tell?

I have an LP Recording from about 1972. How can I tell whether I have a "lightweight" tailpiece? I'm intrigued by the possibility that the guitar might sound better with a tailpiece replacement, but for all I know I already have a lightweight one. I have a balance handy, so can weigh mine, but I don't know how much they're supposed to weigh to be lightweight vs. non-lightweight.

Can y'all help?

If its aluminum, it should be around 1 OZ, and will feel like its practically weightless. The zinc tailpiece weighs around 3 OZ.

You'll definitely know when you take it off. If you aren't sure then it's probably not the lightweight one. In simple terms, the regular TP feels like you would expect metal to. As Rich said, the lightweight TP will feel almost weightless, as if is is made of plastic.

hold a magnet near it. Alu is not ferro-magnetic as I recall so if it's a lightweight the magnet won't stick.
