Pedal Pusher at the guitar show...

At the recent guitar show in Valley Forge PA, "Pedal Pusher" had some nice older stuff. I brought home an old 70's Vox Wah for $160 that he said he had "picked up" that morning, but it had a "little crackle" when you depress the pedal. I had not tried it out at the show(didn't know I could) and when I got home the "little crackle" was a "big crackle" . I liked the sound of it except for that, and who knows maybe it was the same one that was stolen from me back in the 70"s.
Anyway, returned it and exchanged it for a Jen Cry Baby Super that he wanted $25 more for so I said Ok. Pedal Pusher said he was an electrician by trade, and all the Vox needed was some electronic spray lubricant, but I wasn't sure. I tried out the Cry Baby through his guitar (which he said he also found at the show, it was a strat with a 54 body!) that he had hooked up with head phones, and frankly the Cry Baby had a little less output volume and a little less range than the Vox, but I was chicken to take the Vox home, with the crackle not fixed ( I would have preferred the Vox.
Don't know if I made the right decision, I just thought it was strange that he hadn't cleaned the electronics himself, prior to selling it. Its possible he didn't have any lube with him, but I don't know...? Anyways the Cry Baby sounds pretty good and there is no crackle. If anyone wants to inquire about some of the stuff Pedal Pusher has his E mail is Dmbrandny@aol.com, or phone # 631-598-0250.

If Santa is looking for a deal on a Budda Wah + (kick switch that changes wah to a volume pedal), TJ can hook him up ;)

I have one with about 30 minutes on it that needs to go....minty mint.

I just bought a Teese RMC-2 today. It truely is a thing of beauty! A larger sweep than Budda, and the treble won't take your head off like the Clyde I played with.

I have a Jen 'Crier' from the early 70s, with the red Fasel inductor. Very vocal sounding. I'm also interested in getting one of those Maestro Boomerangs from the same era.

Damn, Lure, you're not fooling around these days! Demeter, Valvulator, Teese wah. That is some high quality stuff. You're setup has got to be sounding killer now.

I'm looking forward to trying out a Budda somewhere. I'm pretty sure I'll never get an opportunity to play a Teese without buying one blindly. No dealers around here.

Yeah, my credit cards are screaming with glee, thinking about all the interest charges! ;) I'm sick of messing around!
I did like the sound of the Budda, but I wanted a longer throw. The RMC-2 is adjustable, so you can really fine-tune the sound.

Old Vox vs JEN

I've got a JEN and an old VOX wah-wah (serial no 44167 - any one who knows when it was made? The 67 is slightly offset from the 441, could that be the year?).

The VOX sounds super to me, nice slightly nasal tone and it's quiet! The JEN has got the red inductor and sound pretty good but it's noisy like hell so I'm having the transistors changed and the tech said that would do the trick.

Anyone A/B-tested an old to a new unmodified/modified VOX?

RMC3 ROCKS!!!

I've had my RMC3 for around four years and it never fails to have my jaw hitting the floor when I use it. The trimpots take a little getting used to, but if you spend a little time tweaking the preset-sheet settings, you soon find your favourite tones.

Geoffrey (we're on first-name terms 'yknow - lol) sent me spare pots and f/switches with my wah, but I lost them when I moved house. The pot fell to pieces after about two years and Geoffrey sent me another two FOC.

I would recommend this unit without any hesitation. The only unit I haven't tried (which I would like to) is the Fulltone one.
I like this wah *much* more than any of the JD ones or the Budda one.

Geoffrey is one righteous dude! I sent him an e-mail late last night with some concerns, and there was a reply waiting when I logged on early this morning. He's really helpful and enthusiastic! On a related note, one of the guys from my fav store called Demeter to see about getting my footswitch replaced. Who answered the phone, but the one and only James Demeter! I love these small boutique guys. When was the last time Jim Marshall answered his own phone?:lol2

FWIW, I tried the Fulltone and found it to be a treble monster. Really piercing. I'm really happy with the RMC-2!

I've called Demeter 3 or 4 times this past year. James always answers the phone.

RMC bad customer service experience

Now I am really mad! (see my previous post) Geoffery did NOT want to replace my switch when it failed and my pedal was a couple of months old.

He was very good at responding to emails before I bought the RMC3. Answered all questions with 24 hours. After I emailed him with the switch problem he did not return my emails.
