M2M... Why no documentation with specs?

Forgive me if this has been discussed, however I'm wondering why Gibson doesn't include any spec sheets with any M2M guitars. Aside from a dealer "saying" it's M2M, how can you tell?
Since each one is unique as well, wouldn't it make sense for Gibson to document for the buyer/owner to know exactly what sets that guitar apart from the regular production?

Fender does it, PRS does it...a lot of companies who offer a similar service do it. Wondering why Gibson doesn't.

What is this 'sense' you speak of...? :sneaky:

I have seen M2M on outer box labels, but no rundown spec sheet other than the dealer build order sheet.

Perhaps Gibson reckon it's incumbent upon the customer who places an M2M order to be provided that build order from the authorized dealer and keep it...?

Also, they stopped the 'birth day' bench photos for some rationale that didn't quite fly with me.

Hmm interesting... I Wonder if the sales of the M2M models would be affected (improved) with the addition of a proper spec sheet

I am still disappointed with the White Murphy Lab COA. They give you this fancy book style COA and you open it and it tells you jack about the guitar! Major FAIL Gibson! 👎

No because it’s a one off and not for the better guitar. Someone has a M2M Les paul, white checked, only 1 pickup. Paid $7k and I’m like you’re lucky to get $3 for for it
I agree and would never buy a Custom shop with any intention of ever making any profit or even my money back. I made damn sure the CS R9 I bought was a keeper.
It will be with me until the end.😁

Maybe not necessarily about "profit" but more about "preservation" of the guitar concerning specs, special qualities etc

As someone being a Custom Shop Historic Customer since 1994 - a spec sheet will have little or no value - I also maintain Guitars are a terrible investment Disclaimer : a few models have debunked this theory . M2M is your taste not mine I will pay you 50% of the value you place on you personalized Custom Shop Guitar . I buy Custom Shop guitars for one reason a particular stock guitar I can't function on a daily basis without . Sell because the guitar no longer aspires me to play it it must go & it goes at less than I paid - I must motivate someone to buy mine over the other hundreds for sale .

Not sure how we got to the "guitars are a terrible investment". In any case all I was originally asking was...why is a uniquely made custom shop guitar not properly identified through any kind of documentation. Some of these "M2M" models have something as simple as a pickup or color change.

Why not throw a piece a paper in there explaining it. 🤔

Well you can believe what you want, and again, employ critical thinking and don't believe everything you read or hear.
They're a large business and not everything is perfect in what they do.........so it goes.

Same here. I traded a 2008 R9 for a 2015 TH59 I’ve faded it, checked it and changed bridge to a FU bridges, thumbwheels to brass, custombuckers to the $1000 Gibson collectors edition PAFs. I’m good

It’s a great guitar. But I’m in the realm that the guitar is the last piece of the puzzle to getting tone. All 3 of my Gibson’s (TH59, 74 white LPC and 66 sg special) sound different, however I still don’t the same no matter what. Tone is different with all 3 but it’s not night and day. Leslie west played different instruments. Even P Green. But it was still the same sound. A little different but not night and day. I changed all that shit on my guitar to have it sound better and it does. It’s a lot warmer. But it’s not phenomenally better. Just better.
