Were they really $40 a pop? Volume discount? :p Perhaps I will take a spin to my local GC, it's so very close...

I wasI was at my GC over the weekend, mostly to check out a Warm Audio Centavo they had, and saw the Ranger at $40. I grabbed it.
I haven't had a ton of time to really dig into it, but I'm liking what I've gotten so far. A bit rougher distortion than some - kinda like my old Rat, but not as high gain. Trying also to figure out where it would go in my chain - maybe I need to build a second board for some of my spare pedals.

If you ask they're all at $40. They had a sign saying one of them was. They put the sign up while I was there so I bought everything they had.

I have a few different boards sitting around. I just make a different one for each show I do, depending on the artist. I find unless I'[m doing a tour or something having set boards makes me less likely to try new things.

When I'm recording generally I try not to use pedals unless it's something like an echo. Just turn the amp to how it should sound and add the fx later if needed.

YMMV.

I had the Ranger for a while. It had a very raw and edgy low-fi vibe. Great for trashy garage rock and punk. I can understand the Rat reference.

To me it sounded more like a Treble Booster into a cranked NMV amp, but it didn't have the gorgeous clean up on tap that combo can give you. In the end I preferred my Treble Boosters into cranked NMV ampa into an attenuater over the Ranger. That said even at the $140ish I paid for mine it was a good box. At $40 it's a great box, and total no brainer to try out. Once they go off sale you'll easily be able to recoup your $.

So you got all 8.

We Used To Call It Making The Eight!

"Did you ever make the eight?" ... "Well, I picked up all 8 Maestro pedals from the GC sale!"

Wowza, I spent some time today playing with some of these. They all sound great!

The manuals are excellent. My biggest compliment is that they're well thought out and have some cool extras—high/low sensitivity is really cool. I think the phaser is crazy good, usable, and not just fun to mess around with.

I like the design, not that it's all that important, and I am in the process of putting a little bored together of just these. I wish they made a tuner :P
