So I finally have my old 8-track all serviced and a couple weeks ago I got my 6100 1/2 track back from a complete go through.

It's been nice to leave the computer off to get a bunch of drums and bass started!

If you can find a varispeed remote, you can get boost up some nice thick vocals.

Hey! I recognize some of that stuff from my early days in recording! Looks like you've kept them in good shape. I've got a multitrack and 1/4" deck here at the studio as well. I was just asked to transfer some early recordings off consumer 1/4" and used my '7-s Tandberg 9100x Crossfield deck. It developed a transport problem mid-session but one of our engineers has been working on transports since the '70s and was able to getting it working again.

Thanks!

The Otari I got for free, but it wasn't working. I had one back in the day as well. The Teac I paid $100 for (I think) at a flea market.

Both are serviced. I've been transferring some old 8-track masters but decided to record a couple songs the way I used to back in the day. With the cost of tape (and given the fact it's a 1/2 Otari) I don't see myself ditching ProTools, but it's fun to use for a few weeks!

FREE???? fantastic! I love tape and still have a 1/4" 2 track.

if you tap the output of your Otari from the repro heads you can figure our the time offset in your DAW and track through the deck even overdubs. Just save whatever that time offset is as a shortcut key.

You get the signal from the tape not the deck's electronics which can really expand the usefulness of a tape deck setup in a DAW studio.

Now you've got me looking for another multitrack deck. 🤘 :alien: 🤘
