Not sure if you guys knew about him, but Michael Bradford is one cool cat of a bass player. A native of Detroit, Michigan he is known mainly as a bass guitarist but also plays guitar and keyboards, and has done extensive work in music production and engineering. Among others, Bradford has worked with Madonna, Youngstown, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Anita Baker, Stevie Nicks, the New Radicals, Kid Rock and in music for films. He is currently the guitarist for The Felons Club and can be heard on their debut album Welcome to The Club. He also owns a recording studio, Chunky Style Recording in Los Angeles. In fact, Madonna enjoyed working with Michael, and called him Detroit Mike as a result. She is from Michigan, and she also played a Les Paul.
He mostly plays Gibson basses, including a white 5-string Gibson Thunderbird bass through Ampeg SVT amps, and he has also played a Washburn fretless bass. He has a very big guitar collection.
This is rare, as I rarely see the Gibson Thunderbird in 5 strings. Usually it's in 4.
Here are some pictures of him playing his Gibson Thunderbird bass
One picture (with Ringo Starr)
With Dave Stewart (who is playing a Stratocaster)
And just himself
What do you think of his production style? I own a lot of CDs with his name on it. Just let me know.
