Nothing earth shattering but in theme with the 66 Fiesta Red Strat post, here's the solo on Wichita Lineman ca. 1968.... as played on the record by Glen Campbell.., on a FR Fender 6 string bass. Funny because I always envisioned the solo to be played on a Gretsch...tuned down. but here it is live:

I've been loving that song a looong time now! Sticking to the melody is a good idea when you have a Jimmy Webb song to play -- and the deep voice of that guitar contrasts nicely with the violins playing upper-register stuff.

That Fender is a great-looking instrument. I like where Glen put the whammy bar!

Amazing talent on guitar and voice. When he performed on the Grammys a few years ago, he still had it. Made the new bands and artist look just like amateurs

Huh. Makes sense but I always pictured a Dano.

I did the Jools Holland show several years ago and Glen was on the bill as well. For those who have not seen it, on the show all of the musical guests are in the round. This meant I was about 15 feet away from him while he sang and played Wichita Lineman with an extended solo out. Full disclosure, I love the dog shit outta that song. No joke, I was weeping like a child when he played it. It was very heroic. It wasn't out at the time about his Alzheimer's but you could tell something was "off" by his initial interview.

Thanks for the vid post. I'm going to go watch it again.
