I agree with Rev as well. The 1999 and very early 2000 R9's with the Jimmy Page type bursting, which I think were some of the nicest run of bursts Gibsaon has done in the R9 series, were also darker near the top and faded as they went back.

What makes guitars look very right is the lack of looking cookie-cutter perfect.

I think it will look better when the heavier red fades out a little, (as it now will).

Looks, (currently) a bit unbalanced to my eye.

Does look more vintage-like though.... Glad you are pleased with the result.
