Just got this 50w Hi-Tone SAP and it rocks! Using an early ‘70s Hiwatt cab that I picked up last summer.

It’s a different beast to the Marshalls and sounds killer through my Marshall cabs loaded with various Scumbacks. Lots of fun & it records very well. I’ll try to post some clips recorded with my Royer, SM57 & Soyuz 1974 mics.

How does it compare to other Hiwatt amps say a vintage mid 70’s DR103 or DR504?

How’s the build quality? Very interested in picking one of these up but there’s not much info out there on the SAP circuits.

There was a local band that the guitarist was using a Hi Tone head. Sounded great.

The SAP has more gain & is much nastier! It’s super fat as well - key is to keep the pre-amp lower and push the power amp section. Build quality is outstanding, I mean, 10/10.

I’ll try to get som clips recorded with my SM57, Royer & Soyuz 73.
Your cab has the purple Fanes? Pretty legendary combo right there.

It was an unloaded cab, however it has the Hi-Tone DR-F speakers & they sound amazing.

Glad you love her. I have nothing but good things to say about Hi-Tone's impeccable quality workmanship, attention to detail, and tones.

I had a 4 hole IHi-Tone Custom 100 (DR103) for a while, and it was an amazing sounding amp.

The only reason I ended up getting rid of it was because I have a Hiwatt Custom Shop DR103 and a Reeves DR504, so it was redundant.

And yes, I kept the Hiwatt for the name badge alone. The name badge aside both the Hiwatt and Hi-Tone DR103's sounded dentical. Both were huge sounding amps with insane punch, big beautiful sparkling cleans, and nastier teeth than a Megalodon when cranked.
