Here is an unusual combination that works IMHO!

‘68 Les Paul RI with ‘54 pickup specs (alnico V + p90) black mahogany back w/ a maple top finished in watermelon red.

Really cool sounding guitar - the maple top + alnico V has a 50s Gibson archtop vibe and the p90 is had a full-spectrum Telecaster spank and chime.

Tone knobs are super responsive you can get humbucker-like sounds between 1-4 and then those open, scooped mid single coil sounds from 6-10. Neck is like a ‘59 RI, a medium-large size that reminds me of a lot of the ‘59 335 reissues I’ve played.

On paper I wouldn't be too excited about this. But, seeing the pics, WOW!

Looks killer.

This is a good thing!

Congrats!

...

Just musing --

Gibson should keep going with a rotating portfolio of these weird spec wonders... Just as Fender has 'Parallel Universe' and 'Paranormal' seriers.

Gibson Guitar of the Week, Month were too frequent and not well thought through, they were Hit & Miss.

Instead, perhaps go through the catalog of past M2M guitars and look for patterns, or just take judgments on some great wrinkles to do in a succession of runs.

I'd love to see that.

I hope Gibson took pictures of each M2M and Mod Shop guitar. Those would make some great website viewing or a coffee table book.

The Custom Shop used to take final assembly bench "birthday" photos and post them in a feed also print one for the case, but they stopped doing that... too bad. I hope they take the digital ones, still, and keep in a databased but don't know. It's Gibson...

Interesting, I've never seen that. I've seen it on USA guitars. What years did the CS do this?

Sorry, on't remember dates for this. You know I may well be confusing with USA guitars which definitely did them from around ten years ago until sometime after new ownership change ... never heard why the practice ceased.

Here's an example, what forum folks were calling a 'baby photo':

Someone took a photo of their guitar with the baby photo:

Somewhere I have a ssimilar photo of my CS-356 Custom on the stand before it went into the case. They place a card with the serial number between the strings. I just can't find it.

Not sure if every CS guitar got one, or special orders e.g. M2M.

I have a 2022 Iommi SG and it came with the picture. Though it was very dark and frankly, hard to tell if it was my guitar. No where near as clear as yours.

Have not heard of any CS guitars doing the same. By 2010 the CS dumped all of their case candy, whereas to this day USA still has a decent amount of swag included. The optics aren't complimentary for Gibson on this comparison.

Yeah I got one with my 2019 CS Modern Axcess Bengal burst. A nice touch.
