Odd Custom SN

I can't post a pic yet (need permission) but I am seeing a very off-kilter SN on a '69 custom. The font is right- and consistent- but is oriented to the left of center with a tilt to it.
Anybody seen this before (this would be a great time for Moonweasel to return from the wilderness)?

The S/N on my '69 is a bit 'wonky' as well. The first 3 numbers are barely visible, especially the first one.

The font looks legit- but it is way off center. Not awfully worried- the rest appears right as rain.
