• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

This question is geared to people with a lot of experiences.

So, on some of the best Les Pauls, I have had the bridge pickup have been louder in volume compared to the neck pickup.

And I am talking about various Paf like copies.
To my question is this the wood? or is there a way to make the bridge pickup louder.

I fully understand how to adjust height and polepieces .

So is it the wood or wiring?
Are there any tricks while keeping the pickups in a Paf range.

Also I can mention I had a R7 2013 with Custombuckers and to my ears it sounded like a Vintage Les Paul with a 3d screaming bridge pickup, actually both pickups.
I was very surprised to se that the bridge pickup was a Seymour Duncan cheaper version of the Pafs SH1 maybe.

Well of or course my 2010 R8 got the same pickups and it sounded horrendous.

Im kind of leaning to more and more that the wood is does the most for the sound.
