Greetings to all!

I'm going through my "Sean Costello" phase again, I've been watching a ton of his videos on youtube trying to understand how he was THAT good.
Meanwhile I'm experimenting with the pickup height on my 2006 R6.

I noticed that in Sean's 53 Goldtop the neck pickup sits well below the level of the fretboard ending.
I've always tried to lower my neck pickup cause it is too bassy and also louder than the bridge pickup. (if I raise the bridge pickup polepieces too much it becomes way too "narrow sounding")
I ended up drilling deeper pole pieces holes so that I can lower the polepieces in the pickup. (Lollar 50s wind p90s)

I now like the sound and balance of my set up. I thought to myself "ok vintage les pauls have a deeper cavities or vintage p90s are shorter than new".

But I accidentaly came upon a 96 R6 reissue that seems to have the neck pickup like Sean's. (attached photo)

So what's the deal on this? Did some reissues had deeper pickup cavities? Or is there a p90 that is shorter, so it sits deeper in the cavity?

Thanks in advance!

That neck pup does sit very low, never noticed that on any other R4 or R6, my ‘12 R6 doesn’t sit that low.

All that I know about this fwiw is that my '13 R6 had to have both cavities routed a little to accommodate a pair of old '52 P90s.
How does it sound now compared to stock? I have a ‘12 R6, great guitar!

The stock pups sound good however the '52s just have a tad more zing and twang to them.
I like P90 gats, very much prefer the sound to hummers, got a good '14 ES 330 also that I use on stage.
