Long story. By neccesity, I had to install a P90 in the bridge in 75. Messed up the guard. That's the short version. I used this every day from 1970-75. It's probably my favorite guitar, next to my 57 Strat.

Ed, my good man!!!!! A long story about a gibby you used every

thanks Ed, with the mass of the Grovers and the Bigsby it even looks like a serious tone machine.:salude

I have to wonder if the neck angle is different on 64 and after with the different neck joints and after because for some reason the break is better than 64 and before.

yes, the neck/fretboard is set so its a tad higher over the body so even with the same angle the Abr gets up a little higher.

I dont own a 64 to measure on, but im quite sure its because of the neck insert.

Maybe Kris knows more about this?

61 (a 61 reissue but the principle is the same)

One story about my SG w/ the Bigsby...
Months before I joined Skynyrd I was playing in bar band in NC. The drummer asked me to help him bring back 2 rental cars...had to drive them from Rock Hill SC to Charlotte. We got separated somehow and I wound up on this 2 laner out in the country, Hiway 17. A semi tried to run me off the road, I skidded, going BACKWARDS @ 60 mph, finally jamming up hard between 2 trees...I was LUCKY.

Minutes later a small truck w/ 6 black guys offered to pull me out. Nice, I thought. They got me out - then robbed me. In the process they saw my SG in the back seat. I told them I made my living with that guitar. And they let me go. WHEW!!!

Cool story Ed ! ...I bet if they knew you were destined to play in Skynyrd that'd taken the SG as well.:hee

This is my early '65 Standard. Wide nut, medium neck.

Was originally a Bigsby, then someone stop tailed, twice (wrong position both times!), then a Maestro, and finally when I got it I put a Bigsby back on it.

This thing has been smashed up good. I fixed it and it is truly a remarkable sounding guitar....the pickups are insane.
