Man I used to love these guys, and sure miss their fun vibe!

I remember hanging backstage at a show in Detroit, drinking all their beer while they were playing, and when they finished, they were hot and thirsty, looking at me as I popped the last can. Nick was pretty funny, and another case or three of beer showed up real quick!!!:rofl Edmonds always had a nice 'blond' and 'black' dot 335 with him then!!!

My band opend for them at the Bottom Line in NYC back in '78. I was honored & they were a pleasure. Billy B has great hands, especially his right hand. Facile with the fingers! Funny how his most famous licks are Rush Limbaughs theme w/ the Pretenders session he did.

Love this one;

I saw these guys open for Blondie in 77-78 or so. Great show.

My band has been known to cover Crawlin' From the Wreckage, Cruel To Be Kind, Girl's Talk and Switchboard Susan.

Awesone band! Seconds Of Pleasure is damn near a perfect record. I recorded them for King Biscuit at The Ritz (NYC) on Thanksgiving night, 1978 (i think). Managed to drive the remote into the marquis of the club as we were leaving, but otherwise a GREAT show. Had producer Bob Margoleff in the truck looking over my shoulder during the mix. Really memorable gig. Too bad they only made one record..... :dude:

Yeah its a shame how they could all play on each others solo albums, all the same band, decide to 'give it a go" as a band, and fizzle out. Damn near perfect band!

Was that the show where they warmed up for Blondie at Masonic? I had some great seats at that show.

Now I'm going seriously nuts. I can swear I found a cassette in the remainder bin in Canada, early 80s, on which Dave Edmunds covered Paul Revere's "Kicks": a very cool version. I can't find the cassette or any record of it existing on the internet. Have I finally lost it?

I saw this band open for Blondie late '79. Similar set. I've got a bootleg of the show around here somewhere.

Great stuff

Saw them on TV, Friday’s. They got a lot of airplay in Boston back then, and crossed over with the fans of new wave, fans of The Pretenders, Motels, Elvis, The Jam…
“Trouble Boys” was the line: Thin Lizzy or Rockpile. Music blasting out of the doorway of all the stores as you walked down the street.
Great time to be 13 and discovering the music and learning guitar!
“Seconds of Pleasure”and “Boy” came out that fall.

Great band. It's amazing to think those guys didn't need booteek petals and all kinds of esoteric equipment to get great tones and write great songa. I miss those days.

BTW, if you like Rockpile/Nick Lowe/Dave Edmunds. check out Billy Bremner's musical offerings, and those of Paul Kennerly.

Also Love Sculpture his pro-solo/Rockpile band, who's members also played in some of the post-Rockpile incarnations of the Dave Edmunds Band... John David, Terry Williams, Mickey Gee. Also Geraint Watkins.

Also Nick Lowe's prior band, eponymously named for member Brinsley Schwarz.
