This was released a few weeks ago and for some reason people are paying double the retail. I swear I think I saw one on Reverb purchased about two weeks ago that is for sale again for $100 more. There are a few for sale all $400+. Is a pedal like this really worth it? I like playing around with effects, but no way would I pay that much for something that will be hundreds cheaper in a few months.

Its a classic sound. I will get one eventually. Paying $400 for it is nuts though. I don't want one that bad. Most will plug them into their amps and wonder why it sounds weird. Those were always used direct which makes releasing them in pedal format kind of odd but whatevs

Actually is a great idea for a fly rig. 2 of these and an AB switch would get you to a stage ready workable solution (clean/ OD) for a rig to FOH

I pre-ordered one from CME during the NAMM release... but it's yet to be fulfilled. Bummer.

I'm excited to have it, will keep it, but would never pay over retail. As with everything, there's bound to be good pricing on the used market after the hype subsides. I can't see Dunlop/MXR making this 'limited'...

BTW I would've preferred to see a headphone out on this one!

I still have my original from decades ago. It still works great.

I stopped by the local fav guitar shop and mentioned this. The owner has the original w/phones. He said some might be disappointed because it's best for a stereo setting, and a pedal to an amp doesn't exactly satisfy that. He said they'll be plenty out there soon enough and save your money.

Never thought the original Scholtz Rockman sounded great, or wanted to sound like Boston. The pedal format is a thousand times more interesting and useful than the original form factor, but I still don't want to sound like Boston.

Im sure it's awesome, if that's what you're looking for. 🤘 🤘 🤘

Mike Campbell didn't want to sound like Boston on The Boys Of Summer, but that guitar sound certainly screams Boston.

People think it's just Boston in a box; you can't deny that's something you can get. You might want that or not.

However, don't be dissuaded from checking out the wider capabilities of this one. Pete Thorn is but one who give it a well rounded look-see.

Of course, people are also selling it as Def Leppard Hysteria in a box, too, so there you go!

These products are promoted by influencers on YouTube almost at exactly the same time. It can cause a massive demand sometimes bigger than the production run can cope with. A lot of these nostalgia-type products have an even greater pull. The madness with unobtainability generates more demand and more maina as people, already with droves of pedals/gear, strive to get one like they are Pokemon cards. I always find in a year or so's time -- after the hype dies off -- people will be listing these items in droves on eBay, FB Marketplace and Reverb at lower than retail prices as they found out it wasn't the thing to inspire them to write songs and/or make any meaningful music as they had hoped. Sure, some people will hang onto to the items and get some use out of them but, in the main, it's market hype and a purchasing madness that's overriding rationality and the actual use value.
