THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
are the original Throbaks with the NOS wire impossible to come by these days, Have not seen them anywhere for sale. They where all the rage around 2009ish
I have a set, and they are going nowhere. Maybe that's the vibe with owners elsewhere. They are distinct (positive sense) in tone, vs my other MXV's ...I'd sell the others first if I had to.
www.throbak.com is where you can purchase them from . I swear buy the ThroBak MXV-SLE-101 Plus with A5 magnets and I love them so much that I have them loaded in all 10 of my Gibson Les Paul's . Best pickups to my ears !
I have a set of double white vintage authentic (pre-MXV) SLE-101 LTDs that I'm using again. They weren't in anything a couple of years back and I tried to sell them (not at an exorbitant price, mind you) and no one seemed to want them. I'm sure at some point (maybe now), they'll be considered "unobtanium" and prices will skyrocket. That always seems to happen.
They're good pickups, but I don't see them as particularly "better" than the MXVs that I have in other guitars. YMMV
