• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Ordered a '57 RI in "Candy Apple" red - plain back......14 months later and my dealer was at a loss for a delivery day....they kept putting him off and saying it would be 4-6 weeks. At 14 months - I was done. it's too bad customers are treated this way - WITH PAID orders.
Guess they are too busy with the next Artist Rissue BS.

Too Bad.....for me & they will go on.

That stinks.

Gibson customer service sucks, based on my personal experience with them letting me down. It’s too bad that I love their guitars so very much. The company doesn’t deserve my love.

I'd have a problem with the dealer, rather than Gibson.
They lied to you, consistently.
Any dealer will tell you, you ain't getting a Custom Shop guitar from anywhere in 4-6 weeks. I've got a Tele coming from Fender CS. The dealer said up front, it'll be at least February before it'll arrive, more probably April, and I ordered it in June.
Only authorised dealers take Custom Shop orders for Fender or Gibson, so they know how long it's going to take.
If you want to get mad with anyone, get mad with the dealer.

The dealer is a large authorized dealer; They were told by Gibson it would be 12 months and I accepted that up front. It's been 14+ months and they still could give a date for delivery.

Back in the 80’s I ordered an L5C from Manny’s, for 3 years it was yeah its coming, yeah its coming. I called from Manny’s to inquire with my order, they new nothing about it, but Gibson said Hutchins just finished one and its at Sam Ashes just a couple of doors down street. I walked through the door and there it was. Bought it and took the train home, not before being hit by a car a only a block away.

Sorry for the hijack.

It's a Custom build in an environment where everything takes longer to get. Granted Gibson has a broad timetable with this stuff. Generally M2M take 6 months start to finish. BUT it can take 1-8 monrhs before it is next in line.

I also would not come down on the dealer. They are going with info from Gibson.

But hey, in 1990-91 I waited 15 months for a regular production Fender Strat.

I waited 2 years and 11 months for 2 sets of humbuckers and a set of single coils, pre paid to the builder.

You waited 14 months, THEN threw in the towel? At this point, just ride it out. And FYI, orders, ever since COVID have gone from a 4-6 month wait to 16-20 months. Add in the fact that the M2M program is taking off and anything remotely out of the norm, is delaying things.
I have 3 M2M's. I ordered my first one, a CS-336 P90 in October 2017. It was in my hands at the beginning of Feb 2018. Because they did such an amzing job on my requested 1" deep/thick neck, I immediately ordered an R7. Stock R7 except with Grovers and my same neck size. I received the guitar at the end of May 2018. However, I ordered my 2020 60th Anniv R0 in December 2019. Because of the Covid closings, I didnt receive it until Nov 2020. Since then, the shop has been bombarded with delays, new orders and new releases( the Murphy Lab series), plus numerous other factors. So 14 months is really not bad at all. Another member on here, just received a 58 Historic ES-335, that he waited just about 2 years for.
Id just sit tight for a little longer. It'll be worth your wait. I wonder why you paid in full for the guitar in the first place? Ive never heard of a dealer asking for more than 20% down.

This is on the MLPF also..........so it goes, it's doing the rounds.
Nothing's perfect in this world of ours.
And taking into account the 'covid' factor I cut CS a good amount of slack and got a great 335 after nearly 2 years (as per axeman's post above), it's a brilliant instrument.

I remember when I ordered my Mesa back in the 80s …they would always purposely Over estimate your wait time...so if they quoted 12 weeks ...you’d be gigging it in 8 👍

so it's 2 months past the quoted 12 months and you're "done"? LOL. It's ALWAYS longer than what they tell you. Never expect a custom order like that to take less than 1.5 years in normal times, and especially in these weird covid/post covid times of backlogs, supply chain problems etc etc
