• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE HAVE MOVED THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER! Let us know how things are going! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin
  • We're having some "break in" period issues with our new email system provider - the Achilles Heel of our conversion to a new hosting site. Please give us some time to resolve this. Thanks and apologies.

No they will live on in the world, meant to be used. If not by my heirs, then by someone who'll appreciate them, via sale or donation depending upon circumstances. I hope to direct that when I am very old and decrepit before I shuffle off.

I will be cremated. I did think for years I would be buried with my first guitar my Goya L6-S copy...
Spose someone will get them. Never thought that far ahead.

As for the post title -

When you are a dead guitar player

Your playing ability drops off dramatically... ?

I was going to be buried with my 68 Les Paul Custom. But since I'm doing the Viking funeral, my wife will have a helluva vintage sale to fund the wake. Just redid my Heritage Insurance. Not sure when I acquired $140k worth of verified/appraised vintage gear, but I know my premium went up quite a bit as of Monday! And that doesn't count all the other cool stuff I have. I'd have to guess right around $250k total...or one 59 Burst. LOL

There's something romantic and theatrical about being buried with a guitar, but something supremely wasteful about being buried with a good guitar.
Like smashing it onstage for show.
It might be cool to be planted with a Chibson, just for fun.

How selfish that would be.
I would feel bad for the guitar. Never again being able to give joy to someone playing or people hearing it sing.

Maybe I'll stipulate in my Will that I be buried with one my fave albums either Sgt Peppers , Gaucho or From The Cradle, who knows, or a fave piece of old sheet music, but not a guitar, the kids can do what they want with those............and the amps

Will you be buried with one of your guitars? Which one will it be? I think it would be my R9.
Haha.. "The Hearse has no towbar"( you can't take anything with you)

edit:..the only thing we take with us is the 'good' that we have done for others

Hell no, I would want other people to be able to continue to enjoy them. They're all willed to friends.

Mine too. For many years. They know it too.

No worries about my guitars after I'm dead! --- Those guys are monster players and can do whatever the fuck they wanna do with my stuff. ?
