I heard Jimmy was using a Dallas Arbiter head around this time. I forget the details but I recall a sharp eyed person identifying it, and the concensus of the forum agreed with him at that time. I wouldn't know either way, but given the close relationship between Arbiter, Hiwatt and Sound City Im inclined to believe it.

I would be surprised if Page 'didn't' use a treble booster on parts of Led Zep II.
The closest Ive got to that sound was with the aid of a treble booster, amongst other things..
The thing about 3 tranny tone benders is that as you roll off guitar volume the tone gets brighter and brighter. Treble booster not required. Interestingly in the vid I noticed Page went into the wah first THEN the Tone bender. Personally I prefer it the other way around (buffered or not). Using a fuzz like this is not plug in and play - the interaction between your tone and volume knobs and the TB is huge. You really need to take time with them and figure them out. And once you do, a light bulb will go off in your brain and a myriad of familiar vintage tones will be available to you.

On another note, and how I landed on this thread, I picked up one of the infamous BPC Tone benders (OC81D) the other day. I have a nice stash of Mullard transistors (I've built some TBs in the past) and was planning on upgrading the pedal. After plugging it in though, I have to admit, it sounds way better than what many people are saying on the Internet.

In my experience.... the Fuzz Face gets gentler with the vol roll of not the Tonebender MkI and MII circuits.
And I have a couple here by my feet. Or kinda all of the mentioned above and others.

I too have trouble with the wah into the Fuzz pedal.
The range is much broader and richer with the Fuzz into a wah.

Maybe it's a loudness issue.

I was trying to do a young guy a favor and I sold him my Tonebender CHEAP.
Said he was going to meet Pagey, get it autographed and keep it forever.
Totally lied to me.
No good deed goes un-punished.

Don't know how close it is to an original, but I really like the Lovepedal Bonetender for that early British Blues rock thing.

I had one of these for the longest time [probably should`ve never sold it]. A the 'Prescription Electronics' version of Jimmy Page`s 'Tonebender'.

That's a MKIII clone. Page only used this circuit for a very short time. The "Yardbox" name is totally misleading.
Pretty sure it was only synonymous with Led Zeppelin 1 and his Telecaster..
A lot of stuff around Page is 'Misleading' .
The 21 sound Harness and the Expensive 2004 Custom Shop LP to name but two.

I have one of these around my house someplace. I'll have to dig it up. I also have a late Vox Tone Bender in the cast aliumium housing.
