• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

A very early 1958 burst?

Are you able to remove the pickups and take pics of those cavities?

I have this guitar with me at the moment. I wish I knew more about it. It seems genuine but the serial no is from 58. I was told it was a 56 GT conversion from way back.

It's not a '56 with that switch cavity, unless someone drilled it out to make it later spec (doubtful I would have thought).

I love this Les Paul and I would not change a thing on her .I think she has vibe and character and I would rock her in a heartbeat . I love the figure of the top .

It's back with its owner now.
When we spoke about it he thought the s/n was one that fit the year and wasn't attributed to any LPs of that year.

As to the switch cavity it is very likely it was modded to fit the spec of its conversion year.

He is pretty sure it was a 56GT.
All I can tell you is it is a wonderful guitar, full of vibe and a lovely neck that measures at 1st: .930 and 12th: .999.

It feels nothing like that size so I will be using those numbers on my PGK build, which is why I had it here, to take some measurements:)

The owner, a very exceptional player, bought a Dumble-style rig I built and this guitar sounded just beautiful through it.
