• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I have alot of albums. I went to CD's. The price of albums is quite high. If I was thinking about investing in a $25 to $30 album, which album should I buy ,that I will say "boy, forget CD's, I should go back to albums for that great sound. Rock, jazz, world, and blues. I'm 60, so factor that in. Thanks.

A Walk Across The Rooftops released in '84 by Blue Nile.........an epic album and hopefully still available, plenty of sonic subtleties with this one.

Any of the old Vanguard, Biograph or Folkways records. Say Leadbelly , Blind Willie Johnson etc..... Any of those Samuel Charters recordings. It's not the fidelity or anything like that...but those performances jump of the record.......

I'm just talking about albums made today. They tout numbers on how they make the disks. 180 grams? I don't remember as a kid thinking more about the grams then the songs. Well, I did think of grams, just not in albums.
What am my missing?
