2 is a tough one, I normally play this game with 1, 3 or 5!

Of guitars I own it would be my '89 Goldtop LP Standard, my favourite Les Paul, and my Yamaha Pacifica 604w - modified with some Dimarzios including a mini-humbucker in the neck and some switching improvements.

Of any guitar it would be a brilliant Les Paul and a brilliant HSS strat with some clever switching. That would allow me to cover all the ground I need when I play.

If I could only keep two of what.I have I would either pick my Les Paul Deluxe/Standard or my two pickup LPB7,( glad I don't have to make that decision right now) and a Kiesel Johnny Hiland JH6 with 3 Johnny Hiland six shooter singles T-style guitar.

The OP said classic rock with some heavy metal, so in addition to the R9 that would mean a 60's strat (or similar) with a hot humbucker in there somewhere. If the OP were doing a lot of Stones Songs or Americana/Country style then I would vote the '52 Tele, but the OP did not say anything about that. The strat single coil in the bridge can cover for the Tele. So I guess it is the '60's strat-style with the hot bucker.

For me personally I need 6 guitars to cover everything (R9, '52 Tele, Strat, '61 SG, Es-335, and an acoustic). Ok maybe 7 with the EDS-1275:). Drives everyone else in the band nuts, but hey, its all about me.

What did the OP finally decide?

A Fender pickup. Wide Range Humbucker. They have offset pole screws and are really fucking big. :p

Mostly in the 1972 Thinline Tele model. I have an RI of the '72 actually. Two Wide Range in that one.
