Not so sure I would get one due to the chance of losing a saddle if you break a string during a gig.

I do have at least 1 older wired one but most of them are the last version. But now that I look, they all seem to have similar construction.

This is the one on my R8 from 2023.

And the one on my 2024 61SG looks very similar to the new one.

I haven't personally examined one, but from what @matkoehler mentioned in the recent video update around NAMM this is not an issue.

From my post notes:
  • ABR-1 functional improvements depart from history: saddles won't rock, 'no-wire' won't fall out unless purposefully pushed in to release, smoothed over parts including saddles.

You’re right, I do have some no-wire models and the saddles don’t fall out.

The saddles on my ‘21, ‘22 and ‘24 historical have no wire and are rather tight. Have to pry with a small screwdriver to get them out.

Saddles are now reshaped and travel is now smooth and sturdy. This new torpedo shaped ABR-1 bridge also has a tell — the foundry mark on the bottom has a G in the middle.

I’m willing to bet they got their descriptions wrong on what they were talking about. That should’ve been for the tailpiece. ABR-1 was NEVER made out of just aluminum. Yes. It’s made up of Zamac, zinc, aluminum magnesium copper.

Ppl moan and grown with Gibson to “get it right.” Theyll never get it right. Never. They do NOT want to get it right. Was never their intent. They wanted to replicate their burst guitar cheapest way possible. And they charge a fortune for their high end guitars and still won’t make them correct. Until the people bitch about it enough. Then “oh, the most accurate (insert part) ever. Reverse engineered.” Gibson then tacks on another $1000 to the price cause that’s what the people wanted. It’s a joke. But they still buy with proclamations it’s the best they’ve ever played.

If anyone is interested, I left my factory 2015 th59 bridge at home; I can perform a PMI test on the Four Uncles Bridge and tell you the exact chemical composition of the metal used on that bridge

Have you been able to do your XRF / OES test to confirm material content? If so please share. Tks.
