Hi, first time poster here. I was curiuos what your rhoughts are on mu Les Paul I recently acquired.
It’s a 78’ Les Paul Standard mostly all original but as you’ll see it has a tummy cut.
I am the 3rd owner and was told the original owner had this done some time ago. I got it for good price so it doesn’t bother me as I was looking for something that was well played.
Let me know what ya think.

If you dig it, rock it. Tummy tuck on a well used player, all good.

There's something about a black Standard, regardless of the year or condition. And the speed knobs set it off. Looks great.

Congrats and enjoy!

I think they should have put tummy cuts in more models over the years.
The Modern Axcess has one, of course, even my L6-S has one. The 79 Artist LP has one too. A nice idea.
Looks good! Nice score!

I didn’t know a 79’ Artist had them. Pretty cool.
Yep. Some other cool features too. The diamond strap locks, built in winding cranks, TP6 tailpiece, brass output jack plate.
I have a guitar day thread on it and there are others.
Congrats!!

Also, the Les Paul Recording & Triumph Basses had tummy cut. The final version of the LPR with the standard sized body did not. Many of the LP’s of this timeframe were known to be heavy. Anything to make them lighter is a good thing!

Interesting about the Les Paul Recording and the Triumph bass. I have had other Norlin Era Les Paul’s and your right quite heavy which I don’t mind. This one weighs in a little over 10-1/2 lbs.
