• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

RIP Chuck Berry

Chuck Berry - who hasn't been influenced by him or those he in turn inspired??

Quite simply one of the foundations on which ALL the music I have ever liked has been based.

His impact in those early days and his continuing relevance since is MASSIVE.

To me, he was Rock & Roll, he was how to play rhythm and lead, he was the guy who wrote the songs that always got the party started and the crowd moving.

Legend doesn't even start to touch the surface.

RIP.

From a very funny 1978 Saturday Night Live sketch when Steve Martin was the host, which (among other goofy moments) predicted the first words mankind would hear back from outer space, after Voyager 1 was sent into the cosmos with a record containing a diverse sampling of earth's music by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Blind Willie Johnson -- and Charles Edward Anderson Berry:
