another explantion could possibly that he's just a friggin DICK, pure & simple. No Marine/armed forces connotation, just your average garden variety asshole...

My point exactly. I am involved regularly in what are called Manifestaion Determinations for students with disabilities. The purpose of the meeting s to determione if the student's disability was "substantrally and directly related" to the behavior leading to their being considered for a long term suspension or expulsion of more than ten days.

Some things kids with disabilites do are related to their disablity. Often times they are just not. Just because you have a disability (mental health condition, for example) or any of the diagnosies listed above does not automatically mean that acts you do are a result or even remotely related to the disabilty.

I'm not willing to say that "we all know" because you throw a puppy off a cliff that you have mental health ptoblem and even if you do that this act is result of or related to it.

I wonder if youtube were to show how some soldiers kill innocent people with much the same glee would be more offensive?

What makes you think it would not?

Do you recall a couple years or more the news video of a soldier shooting an Iraqi in a building and the coverage that got? Significant and substantial. National/cable news coverage not just a You Tube video. All the talking heads showed that video over and over.

The question was whether the person posed any threat to the soldier and the shooting was self defense and within the rules of engagement or whether the soldier shot him just to kill him.

That got WAAAAAAAY more coverage than this ever did. I don't recall this incident ever even being mentioned on national news.

Look at the coverage that the pictures of the guards at Gitmo doing sadistic things to prisoners there got! Front cover and major coverage in Time, Newsweek, etc., etc. on the national news, congress and more

I don't buy your premise that this is viewed as possibly more offensive.

Consequences in the past to soldiers where it was determined that innocent lives were intentionally taken (and there have been these cases) got treated as murder and soldiers sentenced accordingly. It looks like this guy got drummed out, but that may be all.

Karma has a way of catching up to you when you least expect it.

It always does.

Most likely it will happen when he has kids.

Then the world can point the finger at him and laugh.
That was funny ?. .
