guys ...in todays market would $2,600 be considered a good deal for a near mint modestly flamed 9.0 lb 2001 R8 ?

That's a great price, I paid a lot more for mine. Get it, if you like the flame pattern. IMO the flamed R8s are about the same in value as a used R9 of the VOS series. But the top figure, condition and the individual guitar by itself makes the final price tag...

Just swapped my pickups, put in DiMarzio 36th anniversary PAF's. They really sound good, I know there are mixed reviews around here. Not the most flattering photography, I'll need to get it in better flash or light.

Stumbled on this old thread...thought I'd add my recently acquired '01 R8...it's about 9 lbs, with Rolph 58s. The guard is back on now with a better color poker chip!

Those 2001 CA Butterscotch R8 are some of the coolest guitars Gibson ever made. Love the maple they used.

The only Historic Les Paul I still own is an '01 CA R8. It's the best sounding and playing Les Paul I've ever seen. Over the last year, sold off 3 other R8's, as they couldn't touch my '01.

Funny thing is that I keep looking for an R9 to match my R8. Haven't found one yet that sounds as good.
