• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Why an R6 & R7 have a custom shop case instead of a lifton?

The black CS cases are better for the guitars with thicker necks ........ sometimes ,if an R6 ,7 or 8 is shaved too thin at the CS ( under .885 ),they have no choice but to put it in a Lifton case.

NOOO... Come on.....
Thats not true... All of the guitars fit in the Lifton.. No problem

When you buy a Fender Relic you get the Case acording to the year of the guitar ......

But gibson... OH NOOOO We cant do that !!!! :hee

All Historics Should come with the Lifton... Not just the 59's and 60's

A lot of people don't know this, but if you get an R6 or R7 with Brazilian tortoise side dot fret markers, you get two Lifton cases, and a gig bag.

Only R9s and R0s get the Lifton. For the top of the line case, you have to pay for the top of the line Les Paul.

If you want to call a Lifton "top of the line". In looks, but that's about it.

+1 - I hear this all the time and do see the construction differences....but man.....are people gigging and THROWING their guitars into the trunk of their cars and Throwing the cases onto the stage and piling amps and lights and PA's on the case while packing for gigs. Come on!

If the 50's guitars didn't all suffer damage from being in a Lifton why did that change now?

Yes....the black case is better....NO the Lifton won't cause you problems.

The current Lifton type cases are crap as far as I'm concerned. The CS cases (or just about any other case) are much better.

My Les Paul gets put in a case, then put in a car and taken somewhere (Gig, rehearsal, jam, etc) three to four times a week. I just don't trust the Lifton case. The only support for the neck is one place near the heal. I used to roll my guitar strap and use it to support the headstock by the accessory compartment. I now use an SKB 56 guitar case. Not as cool looking as a Lifton, but more peace of mind.
